The Lord Aäkon Këëtrëh

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come with my semi regular uploads. This is going to be a multi album post. I am going to upload the only three releases by Aäkon Këëtrëh that I know of. This is a one man project from France, consisting of mainly Dark Ambient with Black Metal influences. Dans Le Foret is my favourite by far, then The Dark Winter, and then Journey into the Depths of Night. Aäkon Këëtrëh is a member of LLN (Les Légions Noire) which consists of France Black Metal bands such as Vlad Tepes, Mütiilation, Torgeist, and Brenoritvrezorkre. This is the Dark Ambient side of the 'crew' and it is absolutely bone chilling.

So without further ado:

Aäkon Këëtrëh - Journey into the Depths of Night (Site)
Country: France

Genre: Dark Ambient

Track List:

1. Suffering - 2:54
2. Until the Twilight - 3:04
3. Bedrovelse - 2:21
4. Journey - 2:58
5. Och Venod - 1:53
6. Apogee of Despair - 0:58
Total Playing Time: 14:08

Can't say that I'm a big fan of this release, so I don't really know what to say about it. It's a pretty average release, doesn't really blow me away, but doesn't bore me either. It shows potential of what is to come, and has it's moments. Over a few listens it will most likely start to grow on you, as it has me, but I wouldn't say that it is a good release to listen to if it is your first taste of Aäkon Këëtrëh.

Aäkon Këëtrëh - Dans Le Foret (Site)
Country: France

Genre: Dark Ambient
Track List:

1. Untitled - 2:54
2. Untitled - 4:40
3. Untitled - 1:19
4. Untitled - 1:53
5. Untitled - 1:32
6. Untitled - 1:33
7. Untitled - 3:16
8. Untitled - 4:53
Total Playing Time - 22:00

This album seems to capture Lord Aäkon Këëtrëh's sorrow and suffering in the music. Something that I can't really describe to you now, but is very real. To witness this phenomenon, you must listen to this release. Not just play it in the background, sit down, and just listen. This demo is based solely around guitar, and the depressive chords that he chooses fit the mood so well. Truly a Dark Ambient masterpiece.

Aäkon Këëtrëh - The Dark Winter (Site)
Country: France

Genre: Dark Ambient

Track List:

1. Untitled - 3:17
2. Untitled - 5:12
3. Untitled - 1:45
4. Untitled - 2:26
5. Untitled - 3:16
6. Untitled - 1:04
7. Untitled - 1:41
8. Untitled - 1:49
9. Untitled - 1:00
10. Untitled - 3:04
11. Untitled - 1:22
12. Untitled - 1:24
13. Untitled - 1:12
14. Untitled - 1:17
15. Untitled - 3:45
Total Playing Time - 33:34

Another depressing masterpiece. This album, even more then Dans Le Foret, I avoid listening to when sad. This was not recorded to make you feel better. I warn against anyone who is deeply affected by music to listen to this when depressed. From beginning to end, this album sends shivers down your spine, and makes you think you are in the middle of the forest, in the dead of winter, crying.

I'm Back

Hello anyone,

I'm finally done school for the year, moved in, and working. I must say, it feels pretty good to have no scholarly responsibilities anymore. Coming home after work and just relaxing instead of studying is nice. But we'll see how nice it is when my marks come in. Anyway, keeping in the spirit of this creation, I have another upload for all of you, a little something I haven't been able to stop listening to since I saw them at Paganfest here in Toronto. They absolutely stole the show, and I honestly cannot wait to see them again. For those of you who weren't there, which I assume is a lot, I am speaking of Turisas. They came out in full viking attire, full of energy, played drinking songs, had crowd singing competitions, and an accordion. Seriously the greatest show I've been to so far, but I have Opeth in a couple weeks. Anyway, without further ado, the upload:

Turisas - Battle Metal (Site)
Country: Finland
Genre: Symphonic Pagan Metal
Track List:
1. Victoriae & Triumphi Dominus - 1:27
2. As Torches Rise - 4:51
3. Battle Metal - 4:23
4. The Land of Hope and Glory - 6:22
5. The Messenger - 4:42
6. One More - 6:50
7. Midnight Sunrise - 8:15
8. Among Ancestors - 5:16
9. Sahti-Waari - 2:28
10. Prologue of R.R.R. - 3:09
11. Rexi Regi Rebellis - 7:10
12. Katuman Kaiku 2:22
Total Playing Time - 57:15

What is there to say about this album. It is a true viking masterpiece. Each song is epic in it's own right, but all together, this album is unbelievable. They performed 'Battle Metal' live, and it was absolutely electric. You couldn't help but get pumped whether you were a Turisas, or a metal fan in general, or not. The energy they gave was amazing. Although I really do love this album, everything by this band has lost something after seeing them live because it just isn't as good. They truly are a band made for live performances. I absolutely urge anyone who enjoys this album even in the slightest to check them out next time they're in your town.

Alright, there is the upload you crazy kids. Now I should return again soon, with something a little different. Stay tuned and you won't be disappointed.

A Brief Selection From a Large Collection of Various Tastes

This is my first upload post. I've picked a few albums at random to give a brief idea of where my tastes range from.

Upload #1:

Alghazanth - The Polarity Axiom (Site)
Country: Finland
Genre: Symphonic Black Metal
Track List:
1. Soulquake - 4:08
2. The Herald for Reason - 5:06
3. Chaos Attributes - 5:12
4. Blood Beguiles Phantoms - 4:57
5. Drakomorphos - 4:13
6. 8th Sphere - 5:31
7. With Black Aureoles - 4:21
8. Forsaking the Yoke - 6:21
Total Playing Time - 39:54

This album, well all of their albums really, are some of the 'lighter black metal' offerings today. That being said any fan of the genre should be able to enjoy this album, especially if you like Dimmu Borgir and the like. I've really been enjoying this album. Just put aside everything you know, or don't know, about black metal and just enjoy.

Upload #2:

Eminem - Infinite (Site)
Country: USA
Genre: Hip-Hop

Track List:

1. Infinite - 4:04
2. W.E.G.O. - 0:22
3. It's OK - 3:33
4. 313 - 4:14
5. Tonite - 3:44
6. Maxine - 3:58
7. Open Mic - 4:04
8. Never 2 Far - 3:41
9. Searchin' - 3:46
10. Backstabber - 3:26
11. Jealousy Woes - 3:22
12. Biterphobia - 3:40
Total Playing Time - 41:54

Eminem fans beware, this sounds nothing like anything he did after this. This album, regarded as a 'flop', is an inoffensive, minimal, and very subdued offering from the future agitator. This has more of a hip-hop offering then his newer albums do. Listening to this for the first time, I had to think that he sounded exactly like B.E.N.E.F.I.T.. Check it out if you're a fan of hip-hop.

Upload #3:

Red Sparowes - Every Red Hearts Shines Toward the Red Sun (Site)
Country: USA

Genre: Post-Rock

Track List:

(1) The Great Leap Forward Poured Down Upon Us One Day Like a Mighty Storm, Suddenly and Furiously Blinding Our Senses. (2) We Stood Transfixed in Blank Devotion as Our Leader Spoke to Us, Looking Down On Our Mute Faces With a Great, Raging, and Unseeing Eye. (3) Like the Howling Glory of the Darkest Winds, This Voice Was Thunderous and the Words Holy, Tangling Their Way Around Our Hearts and Clutching Our Innocent Awe. (4) A Message of Avarice Rained Down Upon Us and Carried Us Away Into False Dreams of Endless Riches. (5) 'Annihilate the Sparrow, That Stealer of Seed, and Our Harvests Will Abound; We Will Watch Our Wealth Flood In.' (6) And by Our Own Hand Did Every Last Bird Lie Silent in Their Puddles, the Air Barren of Song as the Clouds Drifted Away. For Killing Their Greatest Enemy, the Locusts Noisily Thanked Us and Turned Their Jaws Toward Our Crops, Swallowing Our Greed Whole. (7) Millions Starved and We Became Skinnier and Skinnier, While Our Leaders Became Fatter and Fatter. (8) Finally, as That Blazing Sun Shone Down Upon Us, Did We Know That True Enemy Was the Voice of Blind Idolatry; and Only Then Did We Begin to Think for Ourselves.
Total Playing Time - 61:37

An amazing post-rock masterpiece. The reason why the times are missing, and the listing is off, is because I believe this is the way that it was supposed to be. If you hadn't already noticed the song titles form a paragraph, which is a story that the album music is based on. And the times are missing is because you shouldn't listen to just one song. The album is about an hour, each song plays into the next, so this should always be listened to as a whole.

Upload #4:

Vinterriket - A Retrospektive (Site)
Country: Germany

Genre: Dark Ambient

Track List:

1. Nachtfrost - 6:23
2. Das Winterreich - 16:35
3. Morgengrauen - 2:09
4. Das Fahle Licht - 5:26
5. Stille I - 8:44
6. Stille II - 6:24
Total Playing Time - 45:01

There are no words to describe the amount of love I have for almost everything that this man does. There are few groups/artists that I put above Vinterriket. This is 45 minutes of pure, dark, atmospherical ambiance inspired by the forests of Germany. All I can say is to try it, it's not for everyone, but I recommend this to everyone because there is no way to know who will like it.

Track Listing:
1. Jurassic Park - 3:55
2. Young, Dumb, and Ugly - 4:24
3. Bedrock Anthem - 3:43
4. Frank's 2000" TV - 4:07
5. Achy Breaky Song - 3:23
6. Traffic Jam - 4:01
7. Talk Soup - 4:25
8. Livin' In The Fridge - 3:35

10. Harvey the Wonder Hamster - 0:21
11. Waffle King - 4:25
12. Bohemian Polka - 3:39
Total Playing Time - 44:34

Come on, amazing fun. That's all there is to say about 'Weird Al'. I personally think he's a musical genius, the one thing in the world I agree with Kurt Cobain on. Not his best album, but it has some good songs on it that I just can't get enough of.

The Inception of the Idea

Welcome to the Jesusmafia.

This is my first attempt at anything along these lines and I'm not too sure how long I can keep it going for, but I shall try my best. If this idea is realized, I am hoping to start amassing a large collection of music here. I have varied tastes and am going to start uploading in the very near future. Check back periodically to see what new has arrived.

Thank you for coming by.
